Since the typhoon "Likima" landed in China, it has been ravaged passing by areas like a wild horses and proceeded directly northward. The safety of lives and property of the disaster areas have suffered serious losses. Shandong and Qingdao  successively issued flood-control and typhoon warnings. The Expo Park staff valued it highly and responded immediately, preparing for the battle with might and main.
     According to the typhoon warning of the National Meteorological Centre, from the evening of August 9th to 11th, the Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition Park Group immediately launched "Typhoon Emergency Response Plan", established an flood and typhoon prevention emergency leading working group, arranged the deployment of flood and typhoon prevention work, and established an flood and typhoon prevention emergency squads. The working groups paid close attention to the typhoon trend and conducted comprehensive and dimensional safety inspection and flood and typhoon prevention work for the Expo Park.
      The flood and typhoon prevention emergency squads acted quickly according to the deployment of the flood and typhoon prevention emergency leading working group, conducting inspections on the scenic spots, and investigations on possible landslides, mudslides, key parts and venues that would possibly collapse, and electrical power system. The flood and typhoon prevention emergency squads also increased the frequency and intensity of inspections in the water systems such as Tianshui and Dichi, and dredged the sewers in time to ensure that flood would drain always smoothly, reinforced high-altitude structures, stacked sandbags in front of underground space and low-lying areas, took effective measures to guarantee the security of state-owned assets. According to the notice of the Municipal Bureau of Cultural Tourism, the Expo Park issued the temporary closed park announcement in time to evacuate the visitors and protect the safety of tourists.
     When “Lekima” hit, the leaders of the group came to the frontline to direct the command. The party members and cadres took the lead in setting an example. The responsible persons were all on duty, sticking to their posts, and uniting as one. They would appear wherever there is an emergency. In order to ensure the smooth opening of the 5th Qingdao Lantern Festival on August 16th, the Expo Park staff worked through the night, reinforced the lantern sets in spite of wind and rain, conducted safety inspections on the construction site of the lantern, and developed protective measures to ensure on-site work safety. They strived to present a visual art feast for the tourists.
